3 Micro-Startups You Can Copy This Weekend

Welcome to Ready to Release!

I'm Victor, and every week I share what I discover while building SaaS from scratch.

Today: 3 ultra-simple tools that generate millions of visits without ads.

Think less, do more. Let's go.

🎨 1. Background Removers (Remove.bg)

Remove.bg Statistics

Source: SimilarWeb, Octubre 2025

What it solves: Designers, e-commerce businesses, and content creators constantly need to remove image backgrounds. Photoshop is expensive and complex. Free alternatives give mediocre results.

How it works: User uploads image → AI detects and removes background in 3 seconds → Downloads transparent PNG. That's it. No tutorials, no learning curve.

Real-life use cases:

  • Online stores removing backgrounds from 500 product photos
  • Designers cleaning up logos for clients
  • Content creators preparing YouTube thumbnails
  • Freelancers retouching professional CV photos

The numbers:

  • 73.3M visits/month
  • 51.2% free organic traffic
  • 43,100 keywords ranking

The magic keyword: "remove bg" → 3.78M searches/month

The growth hack: They don't just rank for "background remover." They create specific pages for each use case:

  • /remove-signature-background → For scanned signatures
  • /remove-logo-background → For cleaning up logos
  • /transparent-background → For PNGs
  • /remove-photo-background → For portraits

Each page ranks independently on Google. Scalable to 100+ pages = 100+ streams of organic traffic.

Stack: Next.js + Remove.bg API or Replicate (open-source models) + Vercel Time: 2-3 days Monetization: Freemium. Free with a watermark (for testing), $9-29/month for unlimited HD

📄 2. Invoice Generators

What it solves: Freelancers, consultants, and contractors need to send invoices, but:

  • Word/Excel is unprofessional and slow
  • Full accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) is overkill and expensive ($30-50/month)
  • They need something fast, beautiful, and ready to use now

How it works: User enters → Fills out fields (client, service, price) → Real-time preview → Downloads professional PDF or sends via automatic email. All in 2 minutes.

Real-life use cases:

  • Freelance designer invoicing 5 clients/month
  • Photographer sending an invoice after each session
  • Tech consultant charging per project
  • Construction contractor creating estimates + invoices
  • VA sending recurring monthly invoices

Why they pay premium:

  • Auto-email of invoices (they don't have to remember)
  • Automatic recurring invoices (subscriptions)
  • Multi-currency (they work with international clients)
  • No watermark (more professional)
  • History of all their saved invoices

The numbers:

  • invoicefly.com → 167K visits/month
  • skynova.com → 781K visits/month
  • Session duration: 17 minutes (they are actually using it, not just browsing)

Keywords: "invoice generator", "freelancer invoice" (millions of searches)

The growth hack: Don't make a generic one. Create 10 specific versions by profession:

  • /invoice-template/freelancer → Specific freelancer language
  • /invoice-template/photographer → With fields for sessions, editing, extras
  • /invoice-template/graphic-designer → With breakdown of concepts/revisions
  • /invoice-template/contractor → With estimates + materials + labor

Each page ranks for niche keywords with less competition than the generic term.

Stack: Next.js + jsPDF (generate PDFs) + Stripe (payments) + Supabase (save invoices) Time: 1 weekend Monetization: $9-15/month for premium features

📝 3. Resume Builders + AI

Resume.ai Statistics

Source: SimilarWeb, Octubre 2025

What it solves: Everyone needs a resume (CV), but:

  • Word templates are ugly and get messed up
  • Canva requires design skills
  • They don't know what to write or how to stand out
  • ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) reject 75% of resumes due to poor formatting

How it works: User chooses template → Fills out experience → AI suggests improvements ("Use action verbs," "Quantify results") → Real-time preview → Downloads PDF optimized for ATS. The resume passes automatic filters and reaches humans.

Real-life use cases:

  • Recent graduate with no experience (AI fills gaps with skills/projects)
  • Professional changing industries (AI adapts experience to the new field)
  • Executive applying for C-level (AI emphasizes leadership/results)
  • Nurse seeking a better hospital (specific healthcare format)
  • Military transitioning to civilian life (translates military jargon to corporate language)

Why they pay:

  • ATS check: Tells them if their resume will pass the automatic filter (this is gold)
  • AI suggestions: They don't know what to write, AI does it for them
  • Unlimited downloads: They will apply to 50+ jobs, they need to adjust the resume every time
  • One-click job tailoring: Automatically adapts resume based on the job description

The numbers:

  • "resume builder" → 673,000 searches/month
  • "ai resume builder" → 90,500 searches/month (growing fast)
  • enhancv.com → 10M users, 15M resumes created

The niche within the niche: There are a thousand resume builders, but you can target specific niches with low competition:

  • Resume builder for nurses (480 searches, specific healthcare format)
  • Resume builder for US government (6,600 searches, specific federal format)
  • Resume builder for military (590 searches, translating military jargon)

Less competition = easier to rank = higher conversion because you speak their specific language.

Stack: Next.js + OpenAI API (AI suggestions) + React-PDF (templates) + Clerk (auth) Time: 3-4 days Monetization: $9-19/month for unlimited + AI + ATS checker

📈 Marketing Without Spending a Euro (How to Get Your First 1000 Users)

Building is easy. Getting found is the hard part.

Here is my marketing strategy for these micro-startups with a $0 budget:

SEO: The Free Traffic Machine

Month 1-2: Basic Content SEO

Create 10-15 specific pages per use case (as seen above). Each must have:

  • Title with exact keyword: "Remove Background from Signature Online Free"
  • H1 naturally repeating the keyword
  • 300-500 words explaining the problem + solution
  • Clear CTA to your tool
  • Optimized images (ALT text with keywords)

Free tools:

  • Google Search Console (tracks which keywords bring you traffic)
  • Ubersuggest (5 free searches/day for keywords)
  • AnswerThePublic (questions people are asking)

Quick SEO hack: Create a page "/vs/[competitor]" comparing yourself to every major competitor. Example: /vs/photoshop, /vs/canva. People constantly search "X vs Y".

Reddit: Your First Real Audience

Where to post depending on your SaaS:

  • Background remover → r/ecommerce, r/smallbusiness, r/Entrepreneur, r/graphic_design
  • Invoice generator → r/freelance, r/Entrepreneur, r/digitalnomad, r/smallbusiness
  • Resume builder → r/resumes, r/jobs, r/careerguidance, r/GetEmployed

How to post without getting banned:

❌ NO: "Hey, I made this tool, try it [link]" ✅ YES: "I was sick of [problem], so I built [solution] this weekend. What do you think? [link + ask for real feedback]"

The key: Build in public, don't sell. 80% of your post should be the story/problem, 20% your solution.

Product Hunt: The Launch That Matters

Timing: Launch on a Tuesday or Wednesday (more traffic).

Preparation 1 week before:

  • Teaser post on Twitter/X
  • DM 20-30 makers asking for support on launch day
  • Prepare 5-7 images/GIFs showing the product in action

On launch day:

  • Upload at 00:01 PST (to be up all day)
  • Reply to ALL comments in the first 60 minutes
  • Post on Twitter every 2-3 hours with the link

Realistic goal: Top 5 of the day = 500-2000 visits + 50-200 signups.

Twitter/X: The Daily Growth Loop

"Build in Public" Strategy:

Post daily about your process (not about the finished product):

  • Monday: "Starting to build [idea] today. Goal: launch in 7 days"
  • Wednesday: Screenshot of the code/design + "Day 3, the main feature is working"
  • Friday: "First 10 users. 3 have already paid. Here's what I learned: [thread]"

Engagement hack: Make threads with real data/numbers. Example: "I analyzed 50 resume builders. Only 3 actually use real AI. Here's what I discovered: [thread with screenshots + data]"

Threads with concrete numbers easily go viral.

My Challenge: I'm Going to Build One in Public

In the coming weeks, I will build one of these micro-startups and share:

  • Real code (public GitHub)
  • Daily metrics (traffic, conversion, revenue)
  • Week-by-week marketing strategy
  • Failures and what I learned
  • If I achieve the first $100

Which one should I build? Reply to this email with the number:

  1. AI Background Remover - Fast to build, proven market
  2. Invoice Generator for Freelancers - A real problem I have myself
  3. AI Resume Builder - More complex but high potential

The one with the most votes wins. Your opinion counts.
